Cheaters Gingham Blanket CAL – Week 2

Today is week 2 of the Cheaters Gingham Blanket Crochet Along and I am so excited to share this next section with you. If you haven’t completed all of your panels from week 1, don’t worry. Just hop on over to this next section once you’re finished. Today I will be releasing the second panel of the crochet gingham blanket pattern we are working on for this CAL. Let’s get to it!

This pattern release is for the second section of the Gingham Blanket Crochet Along. If you haven’t heard about the CAL yet, you can read the full details here. You will also find links to each section of the pattern as they come out so feel free to bookmark and/or pin it for later!

Cheaters Gingham Blanket CAL – Week 2 Assignment

Using Color A (Shade) and Color B (Coal), make five separate panels using the pattern below. There is both a written and video tutorial available!

These panels are easy to make but they do take a little bit of time. Each panel takes me a little over an hour to finish.

If you don’t have an entire hour to dedicate to your crochet gingham blanket each day, try breaking it up in 15-30 minute increments if possible. You could try working on your blanket 30 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes in the afternoon. Don’t feel pressured to get it all done at once.

Notes

  • Ch 2 at beginning of row does not count as stitch
  • For today’s section of the pattern, you will need Colors A and B. This will depend on the colors you chose to use for your project.
    • If you chose the same colors I’m using for your blanket, I’ll be referring to them as follows: Color A – Shade; Color B – Coal; Color C – Birch.
  • After your panels are finished, I recommend weaving in all of your ends so that you don’t have the overwhelming feeling of having to weave in all ends when you’re finished.

Cheaters Gingham Blanket CAL – Week 2 Pattern Instructions

Panel 2 (make 5)

Starting with Color A,

Row 1: Ch 14, hdc into 3rd ch from hook and each ch down. (12)

Rows 2-9: Ch 2, turn. hdc into each st across (12)

Switch to Color B

Rows 10-18: Ch 2, turn. hdc into each st across (12)

Switch to Color A

Rows 19-27: Ch 2, turn. hdc into each st across (12)

Repeat Rows 10-27 four more times, switching colors every 9 rows

You should have 11 squares total, 6 squares of color A and 5 squares of Color B. Each square should have 9 rows and 12 stitches.

When you’re finished with the first panel, make 4 more. You should have 5 total.

**If you didn’t read the Notes section above, I want to quickly reiterate this.

Weaving in ends is a pain. We all know that. So I highly recommend weaving in all of your ends once you’re finished with your panels, that way you won’t have to worry about them when we’re finished with the blanket! I promise you’ll feel a lot better doing it ahead of time 😅 #speakingfromexperience
